My Why

Last week I have a general overview of Values and Why and how you can use these two concepts to help you live a more meaningful, intentional life.

Today I want to share with you my Why.

Here it is:

My Why is to enable our family to be healthy and live a life full of adventure, contribution, growth and experiences.

Thats it!

Pretty brief hey?

It may be simple but it encompasses so many of the components that I, and my family value. I’ve tried and tried to come up with something better, but I can’t.

So this is my Why.

Every time I read it, it makes me smile and fills me with motivation.

It inspires my actions and decisions, and you will notice nowhere it mentions achieving X, or being successful at Y.

Nor is it about money or having the latest gadget.

At the heart of my Why is my family – no question.

But It’s more than that.

It’s about designing our lives and bringing together our own happiness and well-being while also focusing on giving back to those around us, and the world at large.

It allows all of the noise around me to fade away so that I can hear the important parts clearly.

It’s specific enough to guide my life whilst also having lots of wriggle room.

I have set many goals in my life – five-year plans and such, but I’ve never once ‘stuck’ to it. Life just gets in the way.

People change, circumstances change. It’s hard to know what you will want in a years time, let alone five.

If you uncover your Why you don’t need rigid goals.

If it’s done openly and honestly, it will be the only thing you ever need. Along with your values of course. And those I’ll be sharing next week.

Have you ever thought about your Why? If so, please share it below!
