It’s now one week until moving day, so of course we’re in the thick of packing, right?
We’re currently in Brisbane escaping the Melbourne winter and spending some time with family.
The last few weeks have been a blur of broken sleep, teething, packing and trying to get organised for our move.
It’s been exhausting.
My past antidote to this state is to go on a little trip somewhere, but that kind of spontaneity hasn’t really been possible over the last year due to the realities of life with a baby.
But this time I decided to say yes.
Yes to fun, yes to adventure, yes to escape and yes to spontaneity.
Even if it’s hard.
It would have been easy to stay home and stress over packing and whether we will get everything done in time, and worry about not getting enough sleep or cleaning.
Instead someone else will take care of that, and I will say no to control and no to trying to do everything myself.
It’s a nice change.
It’s only a few days, but already I’m feeling my shoulders loosening and my mind clearing.
I miss these trips, we used to take them all the time, especially when we lived in London, but they are even sweeter now they happen less often.
And I’m far more grateful for them when they do.
For now, I’m going to enjoy the sun on my face and a few less layers of clothing. This time next week, we will be on our way to our new home in our new city.
The time for saying yes is now.
This week I should have been packing, but instead, I said yes to escape and no to doing everything myself! Can you relate?
